Oh boy, where to begin with this one. They are a truly international and original 21st century couple - Vincent is Dutch and was living in Switzerland, and Betsy is American and was living in London. They eloped to be married in Edinburgh, borrowing an Airbnb apartment to make it relaxed and fun. Betsy wore a black jumpsuit with Vivenne Westwood jelly heels, mascara applied via Spiderman toothbrush, and Vincent - after shoes were missed on the packing agenda-jumped in the taxi with his slippers on. A quick detour via Russel and Bromley- feet clad- then met two close friends, Christina and Archie, as witnesses at the Royal College of Surgeons on Queen Street where they were married by Lara, a celebrant and friend (please also note her amazing footwear)- a bottle of fizz on a park bench (vintage, barrel-aged cava as a nod to their new life in its new location), cocktails at Devil's Advocate and lunch at Ondine. A perfectly unstressful, unique wedding day.
A year later, Betsy and Vincent have set up a new life together in the sunshine of Barcelona, embracing true international culture of consulting and commuting just monthly to meetings.
Each wedding I shoot makes me smile by because the couples make their wedding day completely about them and the things they love and traditions that they do - or don't- want to be part of... and that is probably their only similarity. I love it.
So this is my small edit into a very 21st century wedding.
