Ladies and Gentlemen, I am delighted to announce I have an exhibition - launching at The Skylark on Wednesday 24 April 2019 and running until 3 June 2019.
It’s called Plunge. The photos are all shot within 5 minutes of eachother on a winter sea swim, the eve before International Women’s Day this year on the beach in Portobello. The plan to shoot it emerged maybe 3 hours before that (max). A co-worker and ninja photographer James Robertson gingerly lent me his underwater housing (and camera!!) so that I could go into the sea with everyone. But what emerged was magic…
What came from it is, what I feel it is like to be in the winter sea.
The gasping cold.
The sense of cameraderie.
The viscous water.
I do hope you’ll come and see it.
I’m planning on Wednesday night being a big celebration of all the people who have supported and commissioned me, laughed and cried with me and those who’ve given me advice (good or not) to come and have a drink with me and meet each other.
There is a pre-Opening sea swim being organised by Anna of WanderWomen at 6pm beforehand outside the Swimming Pool. Do come along- new folk very welcome! There are showers afterwards in the Swim Centre (£1.80 I think) and then you can trot up to the Skylark for a drink and some hearty snacks. Do come! Email me if you have any questions- firstname.lastname@example.org
